Atrium galore!!!

Easily, the most private way to bring the outdoors in….not to mention it’s also the classiest and a MUST HAVE if I were building my ultimate dream home!

If you’re a lover of nature and natural light, (who isn’t?) And you’re in the midst of a remodel, consider the addition of a show stoppin’ atrium. They’re ridiculously awesome because you can literally customize your atrium to fit any aspect of your lifestyle….

Want a calm, relaxing spot to throw down a yoga mat and get your downward dog on? Or maybe just a whimsical pass through? Or do you want to show off the Michael Phelps in ya as you swim from your mod living room to the kitchen to grab a brewsky….glass o’ chardonnay for me, please  lol

What a conversation starter! I mean, you dont just walk in someone’s home and NOT notice a big ol’ box of natural sunlight and lush greenery, smack down in the middle of a space lol

The last three individual photos really speak to my and my love of streamline design, nature, and natural sunlight.

The first photo also has a phenomenal and unique concept–a narrow window encompassed in a beautiful wood that stretches along the ENTIRE wall. Wow. Normally, the more window the better, but the way this was executed makes me really appreciate the view that much more. It takes my eye on a journey across this beautiful canvas. I dont know what to admire more, the atrium, the view, or that fabulous woodwork job!

The second individual photo has a lot of dimension and depth. I love that you can see down the atrium from the room above it. Oh, the trickery. It fools you, making you think that it’s open to the elements and not enclosed. The contrast of the warm wood flooring with the concrete floors adds a sense of being outside too…but no worries, no creepy crawlies comin’ to get you here lol

And finally, the final individual photo makes me want to just be outside… all day… never go anywhere except to the bathroom to pass the large amounts of Fruity Pebbles I’ve consumed Haha…or finnnnne, maybe try doing some yoga (for you more health conscious readers lol) And really, being inside would be just as great so long as I could relax in those comfy, oversized chairs or…pull out a sketchbook and attempt not to get paint or ink all over my crisp, white, modern table and chairs…that light, man! It’s just drawing me in…..I feel like a doomed moth, getting closer and closer…**tissss** and reality sets back in. Womp womp.

You know you’ve got some good designs when you feel that desire to want to be in the picture…when you can see yourself living there lol

ahhhh, i love atriums

Kudos. #photooftheday

Some rooms have a fireplace, some choose a t.v., this room’s focal point is the floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall window. Talk about jaw dropping awesomeness. Sometimes, too many windows can make you feel like you’re being stalked by Michael Myeres, making any task daunting….but, they’ve done it just right thanks to the privacy mother nature has supplied and the modern horizonital fencing (which I am the biggest sucker for when done in stained cedar, btw!). The plants chosen in the landscaping are super low maintenance, so why not go with a huge window and let mama sunshine bless your space?

But see, it’s not just nature that makes this space so cozy. There truly is an earthy element within the design itself. The wood tones in the chairs, the colored rug that’s reminiscent of the sun, the green and orange pillows….perfect for the naturalist.

I really love the juxtaposition of the modern/industrial cement floor and the black leather, chrome framed chairs, even the block walls with the more natural/mid-century modern wood-framed chairs and the Moroccan pouf ottoman.

Even the height of some of the furniture pieces really make this space feel more grounded. I can just invision myself…layin’ there on the rug, belly down, with a book…and hopes of some birds or fightin’ squirrels swinging by if a chapter gets too boring lol see, that big ol’ window is good for distractions too haha who needs a t.v. when you’ve got fighting squirrels?!

The glass coffee table does a great job at reflecting all that natural light, too….did you notice that there’s only one man-made light source in the photo? A lamp that’s not even turned on! And I think there’s a recess light in the ceiling, but thats irrelevant lol

Ahhh, black&white done JUST RIGHT. That’s refreshing. Sometimes, black and white is wayyyy too contrasty. I thought I was going to have a seizure once! But this room, now this is soph-is-ti-cayyyy, okay?!

Why? Because. The only thing thats actually white is the wall, and the only furniture that’s black is a leather bench that has an airy quality. That negative space underneath the bench was absolutely neccessary for contributing to the sense of spaciousness in the design. Not to mention that the statement-piece-of-a-mirror is also contributing to the lightness and airy quality of the room.

Beautiful balance is acheived not only through the dressors placed on opposite sides of the wall, but because of the perfect choices of the neutral, warm toned rug and the elegant ceiling-to-floor, gray curtains.

There’s just so much to love about it!

I love how the wood grain is peeking through the dressors, and the use of iron/metal in some of the pieces–giving this posh room a masqueline quality. The rounded edges of the dressors, the round mirror, all a taste of femininity…..yet, the dark, strong metal frame of the bench, metal pulls on the dressors, and metal frame of the mirror add that masqueline vibe to the design.

The simple artwork, and the glass table decor, perrrrrfect choices for achieving an uncomplicated design.

So, if you and hubby can’t come to a compromise, this type of design is where it’s at!!

It’s dark, but it’s light. And done just right. #wowthatwasntcornyatallcough

Whether it’s the amazing complimentary colors of the mustard and wood tones with that nostolgic navy, or the statement coffee table–that’s really more like a piece of art– you’re bound to wanna curl up in that 0o0oso0o velvety soft mustard chair and sip your cup -o-jo…Whether you’re a chick or a big, burly, bearded dude, this room aims to please.

Honorable mention to the beautiful detail in the ceiling #character

I swear, every greatly designed room speaks….and this one whispers chocolate haha there’s so much warmth and harmony, and just the perfect amount of texture. It’s kind of the same feeling you get when you bite into a Ferrero RochĂ©r lol omgomg

Btw, I think everyone needs that coffee table in their life. Talk about form that goes beyond functionality. And really, we all know how hard it is to find the perfect gold without gettin’ tacky. Lezzbereal. The pendant globe light, #onpoint. I only wish the photo was bigger so we could get a sneak peak at that gnarly-perfectly-ash-gray sofa. Look at dem curves! Lol no, I’m not going to dry hump the sofa guys……may….be…..?

MAN, am I a sucker for that mid-century modern vibe though.

Mucho props to the designer.
